I did 7 EZ today by feel today, splits between 9:10-9:30 on the Hilliard Rail Trail (outside of Cbus, very nice trail by the way). No big jumps to the gray zone of 8:30-8:50 and no super-slow shuffles at 10:30 (which would break my form down).
Very humid, 88'F. Is it a normal thing for HR to just increase from my normal rate at that speed (135-140 bpm at 9:20-9:30 pace) to threshold HR even though I felt EZ and in control of my run?
Was able to do the talk test. Ran at 12pm, started off around 130-135 bpm. By the end of the run an hour later I was in the 170s. I've been running consistently for several months now--maybe I'm just getting old and not being able to acclimatize as fast as I used to.
Cadence lock was not a thing--usually that happens when the watch sticks around 160 and does not deviate--but that doesn't happen too often.
Building mileage consistently is key--I did 2x2 at MP effort on Monday in the low- to mid-7s and felt great. Have been doing 1 workout at the MP/sub-thresh effort a week, and the rest of the week was/is EZ. To be fair, it was only 72'F and sunny that day.
Also, I've been trying to get the point where I'm burning fat and not sugar on these runs by going slow and steady.
