Vista will have a top 2 as good as anyone in the state. Possibly top 3.
After that they are unusually thin 4-7, but they do have a history of getting guys to step up. I’d agree with the above poster: 2-4 range at the state meet and top 10 at nxr.

What do we think the NXR SW results will roughly look like? I'm wondering if Colorado has a chance to regain the pre covid title (in my mind at least) as the best state in the SW

Does Colorado have the depth to sneak 3 teams in the 5-10 pocket?
Where is the 8th grade boy from Castle Rock going to HS? Ran 4:23 & 9:38 i believe. (Not at altitude but in the national meets). Might really help Vista or Rock Canyon. I keep waiting for Coronado to explode onto the national scene. Niwots depth is ridiculous. Their Jv would place top 10 in 5A.

I think that Coronado and the Mountain Vista boys team will both be top 10 at NXR.

Vista does have a solid top 3 - Anderson, Adams, and Wachter.
Those are the only 3 who were in their top 7 last year, but they have people coming out of nowhere every year
I bet Sky St. Louis is going to make a big splash this year. Running for Chaparral, I believe.
Im surprised Sky isn't running at Vista. They seem to be getting all sorts of recruits and transfers. I'd think that the top incoming freshman miler isnt on their roster. Give it time I guess.

Coplan is 100 times the coach Dalby is. Look at Coplan's progressiom with freshman VS Dalby. If I were a fast freshman I would be going to Chap too!!!

Let’s not put coplen against valby when they are presumably on good terms

Niwot will have arguably the best JV HS XC team there has ever been in the country
Their JV would have placed top 10 last year. They didn't have any seniors on varsity or JV. It will be interesting to see how they do this year. They return 14 kids that ran 16:05 or faster.

Very unlikely that Valor Christian beats Mountain View and makes NXN.
Valor Christian is losing their best runner (Eike) and I saw in other threads that they lost their head coach from last fall. It’s going to depend on how good their new coach is. They only beat Mountain View by 1 point at NXR.
Mountain View made NXN in 2022, and dozens of years ago too. Last fall they had a “rebuilding” year after graduating top guys like Heninger and Barnes, but for a rebuilding year there was a lot of reloading. This time they return all of their top 4. None of the graduations will hurt them at all this time.
Their top 7 changed throughout the season last year. I think only 4 or 5 of the kids on that team ran varsity in every race. Their depth is one of their biggest strengths, because if someone is sick or injured, they can sit them out. A lot of them made big jumps last year, it will be interesting to see if they can do that again this year, especially since it's still a pretty young team.
