Has anybody heard of anyone over 250 lbs going sub 3?
Has anybody heard of anyone over 250 lbs going sub 3?
Unless you are a freak and 6'8", it ain't gonna happen.
No.

Even Chara only managed 3:30
Why bother? It's like a 130-pound dude trying to be a sumo wrestler.
I was not close, but was sub 5 at 6'5" 225ish.
One thing that I think people might underestimate is how taxing it is to train at that weight and higher. You really need to key in on recovery if you want to run any sort of mileage while avoiding injury. And the common distance conversions just don't work anymore-- much harder to run longer distances than to squeeze out an okay mile or 5k
Nick Bare is closest you will get to at heavy weight. Not saying there aren't who can do it but nobody tries at 250 lbs.
I remember there's a dude who ran sub 2:40, and a 76 hm with a 27 BMI. Maybe that guy can do it?

Currently at 5'6" 165ish, that's certainly true. when I was at 125-130 I never experienced fatigue in the legs in a 10k or even half marathon race, the limiting factor for me then was my lung, but right now even a 5k tempo would leave my legs sore for quite a few days.
A teammate of mine has run 2:50 at 220+ pounds.
He is 6'3", former basketball player and sprinter. Very muscular.
This guy is only 5'8" and over 200 pounds. In one of his videos, he mentions his weight in stone but I don't remember. Might have been 15 or 16 stone (210-225 pounds).
Was on 2:57:20 pace through 37 K (2:35:28) before cramping hard and limped to a 3:06.25. This guy is shorter and heavier than Bare. Closest I've seen to a 250lb/sub-3.

I'd bet that Whale TeasIe could do it with hard work.
what is 250lbs? 250 ladyboys?
use proper units of measurement please.
As someone who has run sub 3, then dove into strength training and put on, initially, 25 lbs, then worked my way down to being a fairly muscular, yet thin, person who is 15lbs over his sub 3 weight, I found that it is quite difficult to carry that over the marathon distance. 5ks can stay relatively fast, but the energy demands for the full marathon are considerable.
It may be possible. I think most of the influencers who are bulky and running sub 3 marathons are getting 'help', in one way or another.
If someone could do this they are in the wrong sport. A little back of the envelop calculation, I get about 550 watts for FTP, so about 4.85 Watts/kg or solid cat1 cyclist.
