During the pandemic runners started moving to the marked bike lanes where I live. Among us runners There was an unofficial category of “bike lane worthy” runners who were doing workouts or otherwise faster than the average flow of traffic on the wide sidewalks. Hobby joggers were banished from bike lanes and the cyclists would let you know about it.
Allie Ostrander has a lot of her videos showing her running in the bike lanes. She said she does it so the person videoing can ride their bike near them or her if she is running alone.
A lot of 'bike lanes' have a posted 10mph speed limit. Or at most 15mph. If I'm running a workout and running faster than 10mph I'll definitely go on the bike path. If you're trying to ride 20+ mph on a bike path that's right next to a 25mph road, you should ride on the road.
