Has she decided yet whether or not she will do both the 5000 and 10000, or just one? I think the 10,000m is her better event, if she only choses one..
i'm sorry, has ESP given up her spot? I missed that
Not officially, yet, but she stated in a post-race interview that she is not doubling at the Olympics should she qualify in 2 events.
I would assume her 3rd place in the 1500m at the Trials would further convince her to focus on just one event.
As for Valby: she should definitely double. At 21 y/o, and this stage of her career, she has no chance at medaling but an amazing opportunity to experience 2 different events. She should go out and have fun, get in the mix, see what it’s like to experience Hassan and Tsegay’s kick first-hand.
Next Olympics, she will be 25. Wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the mid 29s by then, hopefully with a devastating kick. I imagine her ultimate destiny lies in the marathon.

cool. but, she hasn't said which event? like, you're assuming she'd pick the 1500? if we assume the 5000 is more of a tactical championship final, I have to wonder after indoors 3000 if she wouldn't maybe think this is her best chance

She won’t be in the mix. Even if she runs a 3000m PR, she won’t be near the front in the 5000m and she could very well be lapped in the 10.
Mid 29s would be faster than 2 X her PR and she’ll never have a devastating kick at any distance. She really doesn’t have the leg speed needed to achieve the lofty goals LR posters have for her.

She specifically says shes only doing the 1500 in her post race interviews.

But can she hang with Keith and the Euro champions?

Hate to say it, but I don't think her ultimate destiny lies with world or Olympic medals of any sort.
As said here, she doesn't quite have the leg speed to match the East Africans in the 5K (although that could be developed), and she would have to be able to run her current 5K PR twice to have a shot at medaling in the 10.
As for the marathon, I'm not exactly sure the whole 25 miles per week thing can align with a fast marathon at all. Honestly not sure she could complete one.
Probably get downvoted but I think any of these folks who qualify in two events but do t have a medal shot should do one and open up a spot for someone else. Neither of you will medal but one more can get the tattoo and march im the opening ceremony
Newly minted-Olympian and 5x NCAA champion Parker Valby joins us live in Eugene after her runner-up finish in the 10,000m and 4th place finish in the 5000m. ...

Most of her interviews are within a few minutes of finishing a race, when her adrenaline is at its highest, and she can get a little grouchy. LOL
She was much more relaxed in this one.
She also touched on how long her season has been, and how mentally draining it is, and it made me realize how much pressure she’s been under with such high expectations, race after race…especially coming into the Olympic trials, when so many people don’t understand what a huge jump in competition it is.
Thanks, I had no idea Parker had an older brother; all this time I thought she was an only child.
Another thing of note, someone on another thread started a rumor (lie) that Palmer was not her coach. I started wondering if someone else stepped in, since it seemed Palmer was back in Florida. It turns out Palmer called around to find Valby an Arc Trainer with the moving arms.
She said she’ll be stopping in Switzerland on the way to Paris to see the Highland cows (cows are her favorite animal). Someone in the YouTube comments speculated she may be stopping there to sign with On.

She said she wanted to live there. ON pulling all the stops to make a play?
