Thought about making this thread as sort of spin-off from the huge Norwegian thread but focusing on 800/1500 training. Someone on that thread recommended that Hobbs' training might be a good base for a similar plan so here we go! Last month on Coffee Club, Hobbs detailed his training day by day: Monday: Speed Development, Tuesday: Double T, Wednesday: Easy, Thursday: Hills, Friday: Easy, Saturday: Double T, Sunday: Off. It's widely known he keeps all continuous runs 7 miles max but doubles pretty much every day. Wondering if anyone has suggestions on modifying this approach to single runs and making adjustments.
Personally spent much of this past spring running similar plan based on Justin Rinaldi's basic 800 training where I'd do Monday: Speed Dev, Tuesday: Easy, Wednesday: threshold, Thursday: easy w/ strides, Friday: Hills or race pace work, Saturday: Easy, Sunday: long run or easy depending on feel (tried to hit a long run every ~10 days but wasn't consistent). All this on singles and fairly low mileage (most weeks floated around 30 and never went much higher than 35). Biggest adjustments I had to make to basic plan were putting easy day between speed dev and threshold because I found speed dev really left legs tired and doing threshold the day after meant runs were trash the next two days. I was very new to speed dev so was definitely adjusting to doing dedicated day but would love to hear how other 800/milers have found approaches like this!
