Syndey is such an incredible athlete. One of the best at a single event of all time. Hope she absolutely crushes it in Paris (which, of course, she will).

Embarrassed, humiliated, or perhaps simply beaten into second place?
Don't know if it was mentioned in the trials daily thread, but Syd's third and fourth 100m splits were 13.12 and 13.13. I don't think I've ever seen a hurdler maintain their speed throughout the second half of the race.
First three in the men's event all slowed by over a second in the last 100m, and only Benjamin and Bassitt (just) beat Syd's 13.13.
But the most ridiculous number is this: Benjamin was 5.18 from final hurdle to finish line, significantly faster than anyone else in the field. Syd's H10>400m time was recorded as 5.22.
Didn't love how she didn't even seem to acknowledge any of her competitors. One came over and shook her hand while she was sitting there on the track but the only person she sought out was her husband (why was he allowed on the track when no one else's family was?) The other 2 that made the team were hugging each other and giggling during the interview but Syd seemed to want nothing to do with them.

That is not correct. Sydney and Anna hugged right after the race before she sat on the track.

The fact that the Men's hurdles are 6" higher is probably a factor.

It’s called stoicism. Don’t judge everyone but your narrow minded standards
I didn't watch the race but I'm not surprised she broke that record. She tired badly during the 50.68 in 2022 and closed much slower than her typical split for hurdle 8 through finish. I mentioned it at the time.
Prodigies are a category unto themselves. None of the standard reference points apply.
