UNC coaches should have put parker in a fast race to get his ranking up or a qualifier. They have failed him
I don’t disagree. I mean clearly Milt is a good coach, so no disrespect intended. But Parker ran a 7:37 solo 3k indoors. That’s easily a sub 13:05 5k if he was in the same race Nico ran 12:57
All that said, Parker has a bright future and could be an Olympic medal threat by 2028. With him, Nico, and Graham we’ve got some good potential successors to Fisher and Rupp
This thread is so dumb. Milts job, the thing he is paid to do, is have his athletes perform well at NCAA championships. Parker absolutely dominated this year from conference to nationals. He did his job and Parker receiving the free excellent education is the reward.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I feel like a coach would have to be doing a damn good job to have a 20 year old race through an entire ncaa season and still be able to pull off a third place at the US trials.
Nico also had an absolutely dominant indoor and beginning of outdoor season compared to Wolfe.
Going into Outdoor NCAA'S, the majority thought Wolfe's best result was 5th (Young, Robinson, Blanks, Samuel/Musau)
Just all started to click for him there I guess.
He’d gotten 2 seconds at indoors so no I think most thought it was Nico then either Ky or Wolfe. Samuel was doubling (and stronger at 10K), Musau hadnt done amazing indoors and Blanks was an injury question mark.

Truly disgraceful for a 20 year old collegian to place 3rd in the Olympic Trials 5000m final in the most competitive nation for track and field. What a failure this young man is.
