The triple jumper Mane just got the world standard and leads early. I think only one US jumper (Scott) had the standard until then - though the US has a couple guys beyond Mane and Scott who could make it on ranking.

Say he runs 1:43.1, and finishes a clear second to Hoppel. Does that fit your speculation?
(I mean, considering how great he's looked, yeah, it's not crazy to think he'd have a better shot at 8 than 15.)
