I had a feeling this might happen!
This could be awesome!

Why don’t you think it would be a good fit?
It might be good for her to get away from her high school coach. She turns 19 at the start of freshman year so has the extra maturity.
A couple times in the last few months on another thread, someone said she was going there, but it really seemed like fake news.
If it's actually true, I agree it seems like a strange fit, but for that very reason I'd be in favor. During her HS career she's been so isolated (it's seemed she's wanted it that way), and becoming part of such a cohesive team would give her exactly what she's been lacking. Of course, she might find it too much of a shift and soon be on the next plane home, but IMO it's certainly worth a shot, for her and for the program/team.
I thought she'd go to an Ivy or equivalent (Stanford, Duke, etc)
This is shocking, especially from what I've read here as she wouldn't be the clear #1 and wouldn't train by herself
On a side note, would it be a title IX violation or could it actually help to have a decent hobby jogger male (15:15-30 or so) serve as her personal pacer for workouts? I know women's basketball teams have a few male students who they scrimmage against and they count as female for title IX reasons, and this could be similar...

NC State seems to be team first and second and everything else comes in third (if course some individuals do experience individual success). That would be something new for her, right? But maybe her times running on the U20 XC squad appealed to her.
Confirmed now

The fact that she took her time with this decision has to be worth something. Just because we don’t understand what makes her tick, that’s ok. In the portal age, no college decision has to be forever.
