she just left a worrying message on Instagram. she simply quit the race. I've been saying all week she didn't seem to be there mentally. hope she gets some help. maybe a long break from running will do her good.
Krissy was great last year as a dark horse. She is not nearly as tough when people know what to expect. There are a number of steeple people that are the same age as Krissy that she will never beat. Olivia and Gabi will never lose to Krissy again. They are at a different level.

So sorry about this, she's obviously in a really tough place. She seems like such a free-spirited, endearing, generous person (I think back to last year's USAs, when she was asking her fans for THEIR autographs when they approached her). But obviously there's a dark side there too. Hopefully by next year, we'll still have everything that's great and unique about her, but she'll be free from whatever she's suffering through now.

yeah, getting away from the sport might be the best thing for her. she might be a victim of "too much too soon" disease, when success happens fast and you put too pressure and expectations on yourself until you break.
the fact that she literally stopped midway thru a race and ran up the tunnel is horrifying image. fortunately Peacock went to a commercial during all this so at least it's not rerun forever.
That was the highlight of the evening. You can't allow stiff closers to waste Olympic spots.
The race was pushed from the front and ended up with one personal best after another. Krissy Gear was already eliminated as soon as the early pace was established.
But the challenge for those women is to make it their norm. The East Africans have no problem doing that. But American steeplechasers somehow believe they can open each season in 9:25 shape if not worse.
USA Olympic Trials appears to be have a large budget, I’m sure they have medical team there to support athletes if they get hurt. The Trials is a high stress event and Krissy can’t be the only athlete that experienced that kind of despair. Would love to see a mental health professional as part of the medical team. Providing support for athletes that are struggling. Maybe something like this is already in place?
we need to start looking at mental health the same way we address physical injuries.

The track and field medical team for Paris has two sports psychologists. There are also two doctors, one physician assistant, two chiropractors, three athletic trainers, two physical therapists, two massage therapists, and three dieticians.
