I'm in Eugene obviously, Uber driver is a pretty chatty guy... Told me had given a ride to a guy who made the Olympic team in the 10,000, who I pretty quickly determined to be Woody K.
So what did Woody tell him that impressed him the most?

I don't know; what is it?
That he had the ‘record’ for a run up some nearby hill (Strava segment?). The guy tells me in awe that woody did it in 24 minutes (‘and it’s over 3 miles’). That, and not making the Olympic team…

your uber driver was some random moron. There is no special hill around Eugene that anyone would think a 24 minute ascent was special. Most people would only think of Spencer's Butte, and 24 minutes isn't special from either main trailhead.
So what your random uber driver actually meant was, wow, someone ran up a hill in a time. Running up a hill is really hard! That's where your random uber driver is at, not generally able to run up a hill at all, easily wowed.
You're probably one of these track tourists who thought everyone in Eugene/Springfield was a knowledgeable runner. SOME of us are... but we just sit back and laugh.

Meh, my friends are impressed when I run 19 minutes in a local 5k. Sometimes, people are more impressed by achievements they can relate to.

He was impressed that a kink aid for the woody was also a 10k Olympian.
I think this kind of story is funny. I don't know why you got so much hate for posting it.
It has always been this way in our sport and it always cracks me up...
Like if you tell a co-worker that a high school boy just ran a 13:25 5km and their initial reaction is, "Well, if he keeps trying his hardest, someday he might be able to do a full half-marathon like my cousin just did!"
Those kind of reactions (like the Strava Segment) make me laugh/smile most of the time.
