I am a pretty experienced runner, I’m going into my senior year of HS and I’ve ran prs of 15:13, 8:54, 4:10, and I’ve been doing my easy runs at 7:30-7:15 pace. According to all of the running calculators this is too slow and I need to be doing ~6:40 or faster. (same for the 120/90s pace advice). However when I do my easy runs at 7:30-7:15 my HR is between 150-160 (around the advice for zone 2 running (and what the calculator says my HR should be for easy runs). But when I go 6:40 my HR shoots up to 160s and gets up even to 170. I am 18 years old and this is around 85% of my max HR. This HR would put me in the supposed “threshold” HR zone. 6:40 doesn’t feel too fast for me but it also doesn’t necessarily feel “easy”. 7:30-7:15 feels pretty relaxed most days. Should I go by my Heart rate or by the paces? (I have used both the coros pace 2 and garmin 165 and the heart rate readings are very similar). I also know there is a difference between easy and recovery. I don’t worry about pace on recovery days.
