Four competing for three spots -- Mu, Akins, Whittaker, Rogers. Tough call on who loses out.
I haven’t been able to watch but is Mu not looking like the clear winner? Does she still have hamstring issues or just not fully fit?
The consensus view seems to be lingering hamstring issues and not quite as fit as in years past. She's still shown just enough quality to win, but 2nd place in a 1:57 race wouldn't shock me.
What type of race will we get? If it is slow (2:00+), than Hurta and Rose has no shot of making team. On the other hand, that is possibly the only chance for Raevyn to come in top3 because I think she does not have enough fitness in a fast race. Secondly, if Rose take it out as fast as in Semis, I wonder if someone like Hurta or Wilson jumps on her back or not. And what will Athing do? Akins was clearly saving yesterday, I think she has something special for final. So many questions... With Rose, I think we will see a very fast race and Akins will be fighting with Mu for win, Hurta with Wilson for 3rd with Rose fading hard in last 100 metres. So I am going 1.Mu 2.Akins 3.Hurta, but I will not be surprised if Athing is beaten.

I'd say that Hurta, Grace, Rose, Wilson have a shot as well
Ha yeah, I don’t know how anyone could rule out Rose and Grace when both just beat Whittaker into 4th in the semis and ran faster than Whittaker’s PR in doing so. Allie Wilson looked great in the rounds and her PR (1:58.09) and win at US indoors this year pass the sniff test. SHK has done just fine in the rounds and ranks 3rd on SBs (1:58.48), so if she gets it right she could sneak 3rd. It’s incredibly wide open.
My best guess is that Mu wins in 1:57.9 with Akins running her close to the line in 2nd, but either of them could botch it (Akins in particular was less impressive in the semis than I’d expected). The 3rd member of the squad is such a crapshoot I won’t even hazard a guess.
Too bad Mu cant get an auto like WCs, but we are sending a great team. Nia has been working up incrementally and is now a medal contender in Paris. A quiet juggernaut of personal progress and another Beasts success underdog story.
