I think we can now safely say that BYU is Steeple U finishing 1st and 3rd at the trials.

Easy to be steeple U when all your athletes are 28 years old

That's right, their age cheating even extends to the Olympic Trials. Preposterous

But this is the trials, so the age thing doesn't really matter. Having two guys from the same coach making the team is a huge achievement.
Yes it is. Their top 10 list is pretty insane
The same finish could possibly happen in the women's race with Wayment and training partner Halladay-Lowry.
BYU also has a third runner in the field who was 9th at NCAA and just a soph but she doesn't have a shot at making the team.
Rethink what you just said and then comeback! Thanks!
unless that coach is Dennis Mitchell apparently

Emma Gee also ran at BYU. She's running in the same heat as Wayment and Taylor Lovell(freshman at BYU).

So BYU is Marathon U?
Are the BYU steeple coach and the Mantz/Young coach the same person? I feel like so many of us are out of the loop with the coaching stuff lol.

It’s Eyestones all the way down.

Ed Eyestone yes. Living running and coaching legend.
He has the BYU guys for xc and a couple post college groups
interesting article, I had now idea how much of a rich history with the steeple BYU has had, with current/former coaches. Particularly on the Women’s side of things with the efforts to get a women’s steeple event included in the ncaa etc.. And preparing the women before hand, so much so they won the first 3 steeple national championships in the early 2000s. Informative stuff
UVA had three guys in the steeple final. East coast Steeple U!
Actually, Weber is known as the steeple U. And you can straight-up throw out that 8:16 because, in shoes from just 5-years ago, it would have been 8 seconds slower.
Eyestone was an assistant at Weber for a couple of years.
