I’m a middle distance runner, female in my early 30s… I’m dealing with this issue where I get to a point in my workouts (about 2/3 into it) where I’m feeling okay with the physical load (legs aren’t going lactic or feeling close) ; breathing-wise, I’m working as normal , maybe at like 165 bpm-170bpm, but without any warning: I feel the need to puke. Once I dry heave I can’t stop. I’ll try to keep on with my workout, a tempo or interval and my body will start to jerk itself forward wanting to puke. The issue is stopping me from finishing my workouts. (one time I tried puking twice in a tempo to let it pass and continue on but but it was awful… my body shut down.) What’s happening here? Too much acid beforehand? Eating too close to practice time? Am I super out of shape and forcing fitness? Never had this issue before… would only happen after a very very hard workout or race…
