I recently did a workout on the track, it was 5x1000, 400m jog. I averaged 3:16 per rep, first rep in 3:20 and last two in 3:15/3:14.
It was 83 degrees with a 70 dew point on this day, and the workout was done with 0 shade coverage. This workout was done in the middle of a 75 mile week. I also did a 3 mile tempo at 5:40/mile in similar conditions about two days before this.
5K PR is 16:45 on a hilly cours, which I ran about a month ago, but I feel a lot fitter currently than when I ran that.
2 questions:
1) can I expect to run a 16:20-16:30 on the same course based off this workout?
2) is a sub 16 in optimal conditions on the track a reasonable goal for the end of the summer? I typically notice a huge improvement in my performance after training through high temps and dew points all summer
