He's already broken the HSR and junior world record for 400 at 15 years old. He's pretty close to being an Olympian. I don't see how he's not in the relay pool if he makes it to the final. I think he goes pro right after the trials are over.

He's 16 and a sophmore.
He should finish HS. Unless he becomes one of the top 5 in the world before then

He's 16 now? I stand corrected. Still, I think we have another Erriyon Knighton level talent on our hands. I don't see him getting out of high school without turning pro, especially if he goes to the Olympics this year. He has no competition is high school at all in the 400 right now. Why compete at a lower level for two more years? I would like to see him develop his talent for the 800 more, though. He's already a 1:50 guy. In the shape he's in now, I bet he could drop a 1:47 easy in a pro race.

Unless he gets offered a hilariously large deal he's not gonna go pro.
He's been very clear about one thing - he wants to go back to Penn relays and take home the first championship of America 4x400 title for a United States team since Long Beach Poly in 2007
As an American fan of the sport, I applaud him. That's the kind of stubbornness and drive I want to see. Hope he knocks Jamrock out of their socks with a 43.5 split next year. Best track and field rivalry out there.

After breaking the WJR, I think that ridiculous deal is on the table. Seeing what Knighton was able to do as a sprint prodigy, there's got to be huge offers in the works for him as we speak, or the top talents scouts are idiots.

Knighton is on the juice so I wouldn’t use him as an example
He absolutely needs to finish high school first. Pro contracts will be waiting for him then, and it honestly would be a disservice to him for anyone to try and sign him to a pro deal until his last semester when graduation is eminent. For now he will have NIL deals swooning for him.

There are certainly plausible reasons to stay in HS. The Penn relays is not one of them.
Before NIL was a thing, I'd say he would have already jumped. However, he's got himself a nice deal with New Balance and his family isn't hurting for cash.
The money will be waiting on the other side of graduation.

I wonder if he’d renegotiate. He ran well as a freshman but not dominant as he is now

Imagine Quincy anchoring the United States 4x400 to gold....as a high school sophomore.

He might renegotiate that NIL but agreed. Worth noting he signed with WME, a real top level agency, after the double 44 splits at Penn
Quincy Wilson has recently signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME), a talent agency that offers representation across sectors like entertainment and sports, among others.

I agree.
But Quincy is a 16 year old. As stupidly talented as he is, it is very important that he follows a progression and has his fun in the sport while he can. Making good memories and running with his team are important pieces of development at that age as well. If going for a Penn relays title is what keeps him motivated, driven, and focused at this time of his career than it is important that he follow that.
Also, he has a really solid support group around him. His coach, parents, sister, and even pro athletes like Grant Holloway and Noah Lyles look out for his best interests, and I can guarantee you that considering he was raised to be a straight-A student, going to a good college on a full scholarship AND graduating with a degree is gonna be priority number 1.
That said, shoe companies like Adidas have always been good about paying for school. I remember hearing they did it for Drew Hunter, Hobbs Kessler, and Erriyon Knighton so that does seem like a pretty obvious route.

Yeah, the most I see him doing is renegotiating that NIL deal. He's about to get paid for sure, even more so if he makes the team.
Also, I didn't know he signed with WME. Thats pretty big. That website sucks though - 44.3 isn't anywhere near the fastest split in HS history. William Reed 44.1, Justin Robinson 43.7, ect.

I feel like On could be a company he’d switch to if he’d leave new balance. They don’t have any sprinters at all really, let alone on NIL deals, and he attends a very good private school outside of dc which fits into their theme of signing deals with only people from good colleges.
Market wise, I also think it’d expand their market a fair amount since they have very few black athletes . At least in the US

Yes, he should turn pro.
I hope his parents have put aside savings for college, so that he does not have to enter on a scholarship and run that idiotic for points drudgery known as the NCAA schedule. That would inevitably destroy his potential and achievements.
If he performs as well in the semi's as he did in the prelim, he should make it to the finals.

Does turning pro stop him from finishing high school or uni? I don't see them as being mutually exclusive.
