The 10000 isn’t physically taxing. That’s why it’s easy to do the 5k/10k double and hard to do the 1500/5k double. There’s no reason to skip the 5000. It’ll be a nice workout to work on a faster pace, which will be needed for the Olympics.
I think the extra race may help Woody. Nico should not run. I thought he looked like death the last 1k, which makes his grit impressive in holding off Hunter. He was in the ropes, hanging on for dear life for over two minutes.
Same question for Woody…though looks like Woody has little path in. I could see either side for Nico but I’d say he’s a long shot for top 3.
Gonna say no for Woody. He doesn't have the standard, and I think he doesnt get in on ranking unless its a fast race. He isn't even on the list right now because he hasnt run enough races.
Young I think will sit it out. Hasn't looked super fast lately and the competition is much stronger in the 5k vs the 10k. Don't think he has any chance of top 3.

Of course he’ll run. If he doesn’t want to race, why bother training.

A workout? The final will be a 100% effort, and about 99% for the semi. He works a lot on a faster pace, during his interval training.
Nico will do the 5k. He needs the rehearsals. So will Woody. Why wouldn’t he? It would be like Woody skipping out on Toy Story 2. It wouldn’t be the same movie without him.

man i'm so sorry but respectfully some of the stupidest people i see on these boards pop up every few years during the Olympic trials.
Like what do you mean the 10k isn't taxing?
And yes of course Nico is gonna run the 5k. What kind of a question is that LMAO he has a real shot at making the Olympic team in a different event. Why would he ever just choose to not compete? Every single person around him is gonna be telling him to strike while the iron is hot.
Agreed. He'll have to see how he recovers from the 10k between now and the 5k prelims, but you take your shot if you have it--you never know what might happen in the next 4 years, 8 years, etc.
A little bit concerned Nico is past his peak for the season after an indoor and outdoor campaign for NCAAs. He's been racing since January. A good tell on this is how Nico was handing Woody his lunch at workouts earlier this year but it'd the tables have turned.
The races Nico has been vulnerable this year....it has been hot. Paris will be hot.

I think he’s well beyond over-ripe. He’s tired but super mentally tough.
Absolutely he should run. It's not like it's going to take 12:55 to win it. And in that type of race....yes he could qualify. Who is saying he can't? Probably the same people that were saying he couldn't break 1:54 in the 800 last fall.
