Others are correct, Mu doesn't look like the favorite to win USAs, yet she'll probably have a longer interview than the eventual winner. That's bad TV.
If NBC/Usatf believe that running well in the heats doesn't matter, then why hold them? Just have straight finals.

I mean if she was the only non-heat winner of the night to be interviewed it’s one thing. But as the night went on, they were clearly interviewing the storylines so it was less of a dig imo
