I was instructed to run 5x1000 at 5000 off full (2:30) rest and then 4x300 at 1500 effort off also full rest (2:00). Even though I haven't gone faster than tempo pace (~5:05) for 3 weeks, this (2:55 + ~45) felt surprisingly easy and smooth. I ran the same workout almost exactly 365 days ago in similar (90*) conditions, running 3:05 and 48's before I ran 14:45, admittedly in a practice time trial, and 3:50 that season. Looking at my log, I said that I was working hard but not all out. Should this mean I'm already fitter than I was a year ago?
