Webb is the best, BABY!!!
WEBB!
Kessler
2021: 1:49.7, 3:34, 8:39
2022: 1:46.9, 3:36
2023: 1:45.8, 3:32, 7:39
2024: 1:45.1, 3:33, 3:48
Webb
2001: 1:47.7, 3:38, 3:53, 8:42
2002: 1:49.5, 3:41
2003: 1:49.4, 3:44, 3:58, 14:06
2004: 1:46.1, 3:32, 3:50, 13:46
my gut is that webb has better endurance and kessler has better speed and they're almost perfectly matched at the mile
Webb ran his 3:46 AR when he was 24. Hobbs turned 21 three months ago.
Time will tell.
Webb ran 1:43.74 for 800m, beating world medalist Gary Reed in the process. He had pretty good wheels.
I’m going Hobbs. Webb seemed to be an absolute work horse and everything was a grind. Hobbs seems to have more of a natural ability and able to do more from less
I think a better question is, who will have a better career. So far it's Webb, but Hobbs is still early as a pro.
Kessler competes in a far more competitive and deep US era; Webb had few real rivals but Kessler has to battle Hocker and Nuguse and the like. I suspect his ceiling may be higher in the 1500 because of his raw speed; his 1:45 flat at age 20 looked damn near effortless and with wonky tactics, and his 3:48 mile didn’t look all out or perfectly paced. I don’t see Kessler beating Webbs longer distance times- Webb had a crazy engine.
