Since UCLA Track and Field will likely only be a women's sprint/jump program by 2026, it's a good hire.
Prediction - men's track, men's and women's XC will get eliminated once UCLA starts having to pay athletes. Women's track will stick around for Title IX compliance.

If your prediction comes true, UCLA won't be the only major school that happens at.
That said, I seriously doubt they will be dropping men's track... far too rich of a history to do that.

You're not wrong.
However, they are more likely to drop XC before they drop track.

I don’t think UCLA cares about Track & Field. The 80’s and 90’s are long gone
Delaney Rasmussen (NAU alum) recently took a job at UCLA as asst. track coach. doesn't NAU have a job opening for an assistant coach after Becca Pflugrad left? I wonder if Delaney goes back to Flag?
AD is a clown. He clearly knows nothing about track and field. Great job bud, hired another “name” let’s see where that gets you. Hayes is a great technical hurdle coach. Last time I checked that doesn’t run a program, neither does being an Olympian. What seems like a good thing because it’s a title is actually career suicide for Hayes. She won’t be able to build this program. It’s too much work. Based off her past recruiting and being a volunteer for the majority of her D1 career, how can she possibly begin to understand what it takes. She should’ve stuck to coaching, being a director is not that.

With lack of resources they needed a real go getter, a disrupter. If she plans on cleaning house, she better have a good salary pool to pull in some top names as assistants or she will never get it done. But it’s UCLA so we know they don’t.

UCLA Men’s gymnastics had a ton of national titles and they scrapped it when title IX came around. Everything is on the chopping block at all times. History has nothing to do with it.

Guess we'll see.
I'll stand by what I said, IF ucla drops men's track they will not be the only major university to do so.
