I know that the the first 800m lap is usually faster, but a10 second difference though sounds like too much. This makes me wonder what could have been my time If I had paced ideally (perhaps having a 2-3 sec difference)

Depends on the type of runner you are and your aerobic strength. Plenty of people with little aerobic strength and lots of speed will run their "best" race with splits like you did. Assuming you have solid aerobic strength, you could potentially run a 53 low first lap, come back in 55/56 to dip under 1:50.

1:47.
I don't think 1:47 is anything close to a given UNLESS you are very aerobically strong. If you're packing a 3:45 1500m PB under the hood, then yes that sounds more reasonable.
1:47 seems aggressive considering you'd want to still go out in 52 to run 1:47, and then somehow close 6 seconds faster. I would guess 1:49 is in the cards for OP, going 53-56 or similar.

10 seconds is never ideal even for 400 type 400/800 runners

Never ideal for a well-trained one. But I've witnessed many 400 runners whose coach decided they were an 800 runner and basically just gave them a few slightly longer reps with zero aerobic development. These are the type of people that I've seen do their best running off of massive positive splits. Not ideal if they want to to continue to improve.

Of course the tenths matter as well. Were your splits 51.0 and 61.9 or 51.9 and 61.0? And to dive deeper... what were your 200 splits? Did you run your first 200 in 24.x?
Let's assume they were 51.0 and 61.0 for a 1:52.0 (avg of 56.0).
If you go out conservative in 27/54 it is realistic you could run 1:48.
I was thinking something more like 54/55 w./ a 2ish second positive split. Threaten 1:50. Seems like some see it a little faster. That's just a big positive split. Hard to say more without PBs/workouts. Looks like you have some speed & need to build some strength. Feel like it's a big jump off of that to 1:47-1:48. Would start by going after 1:50. Feel like a 53 1st lap could still be a little hot but you'll figure it out with more racing.

Something gave you the balls to go out in 51. I have broken 1:50, I am considered to be a suicidal racer, and I would not open in 51.
Looking at your fall off I’m guessing you probably ran something like 24/27.x/28.x/32. Go out in a smooth 26 next race and let the rest take care of itself. Opening in 52.mid-53.mid is probably where you should be.
400 meter phenom Quincy Wilson ran 54.6-56 for a 1:50.6. What type of speed does the OP have, and what type of training does he do that makes us assume he can go 54-55? Unless we know what other races he does and his overall training anything is a guess. I'll guess 54.-59. for 1:53-1:54

Probably the fact he just ran 1:52 going 51-61...dumba$$

I am a dumba$. Why did I think he ran 2:02? No only can I not read, I can't count.
