Takes the lead with a mile to go at closes her last 4 laps in roughly 4:21 (at around 5500 feet in elevation), dropping Beatrice Chebet in the process. Good luck to anyone who wants to beat her in Paris.

What?
DIdn't someone here post her workout a month ago wondering why her coach would reveal such a thing on a struggling Faith?

It was pretty scary to watch her effortlessly put about 15 meters on Chebet in the last lap or so.

yeah, it's just odd. going from struggling through a typical session because of injury setback and gasping at the trackside 4 weeks ago to hitting her last 4 laps in 4:21 at altitude. it's difficult to know what is real in athletics anymore.

what are you referring to?? what session?
Perhaps this? This is quoted to have been in May, so only 4 weeks ago:
“Questions in the camp? Even Kipyegon seems to have some question marks around her. Three weeks ago I stood in lane eight at the Kipchoge Keino stadium and watched as the double Olympic champion followed the feet of her pacemaker of 15 years, Bernard Soi.
A year before she had knocked out a session of 2k, 3x1km, 7x400m with relative ease. 6:18 for the beginning, 3:00 for the kilometres then seven single laps cutting down from 66 seconds to 64. All at the 2100m altitude of Eldoret, on the clay track of the Moi University. But this day in early May 2024, things appeared that bit harder. Nine repetitions of one kilometre, mostly all at 3:06 with ample recovery. An onlooker who spends much of his time with the group even offered at times she looked like she was limping. Halfway through a coughing fit saw Kipyegon wretch into the bushes and, despite rallying to finish the session, and even speeding up towards the end, I got the impression I was witnessing something that her management would rather have not shared.”

Tha's good info but can you please cite where it's coming from?
The author says it was 3 weeks before May 27, so that would put it at something more like 7 weeks ago. Also if she’s coughing and retching it sounds more like she’s sick than hurt, no? Anyhow if Neil Gourley and Grant Fisher have shown us anything it is that it doesn’t take long if you’re coming off great fitness.

Yes, this sounds more as though she was sick, and still recovering from injury.

If it was exactly 3 weeks before May 27 then that’s 5 weeks and 5 days. But yeah I think the recent “Ingebrigtsen was never injured” conspiracy thread shows that some can’t comprehend how a WR caliber athlete can return to great form fairly quickly, when they have years of training behind them and of course all the talent in the world. Add the fact that the 9xK session may have been one of her first track sessions of that kind in a while and it’s not surprising she’d be running much better by now, regardless of whether she was sick on that particular date.

Yes sounds like she was a bit ill if she was coughing. I think she’s clean. You can always tell by how her competitors all seem to love her. Athletes competing together tend to know who is doping and they will be slightly more frosty towards them.
Seems like she is in great form.

Fair. Track days for that group are Tuesdays. The author was probably referring to May 7thrn. Faith has said her injury was in May, so it’s possible it was actually a *rather* minor injury that cost her under a week of training but had to be managed. Going to Pre Classic is a ton of travel, so you can see if she’s only starting to run good workouts (by her standards) it is not like Gourley deciding to give it a go with barely any training. The earlier Trials date probably also factors. The author also compares it to a workout of 2K, 3x1K, 7x400. 9x1k is of course different as a workout.

I won’t lie I was worried for Faith after she didn’t race at Pre, but seeing she dropped the 10K WR holder and 14:05 5K runner in Beatrice Chebet with ease is pure insanity
