I can buy a pair of Asics Hyper LD 6 spikes for $35, or a pair of Dragonflys for double that. Never ran in spikes ever.
I am a hobby jogger - trained for a month after time away, current 800m around 2:25-2:28. Will likely come down to 2:20 very quickly. This is using road running shoes.
I don't want to spend a load of money on Dragonflys, and I feel like I'd just look like an idiot if I run, say, 2:22 in the fanciest spikes money can buy after a month of good training.
Are the Asics Hyper LD spikes good enough to avoid injury and drop a couple of seconds in the 800? If so, I'll use these for a year or so, and then maybe get some super shoes. Or should I just get with the program and buy the dragonflys?
