Almgren and Grossier both with great PRs got dropped by aerobically weaker blokes
You can run a WR in time trial conditions with pacers and all that, but once you arrive to a championship race and have no balls to pull the string leading it, then youre not winning it
IMO, Lobalu probably isn't aerobically weaker than Gressier and Almgren. The difference is that while they've ran well setup time trial 10000s, Lobalu is elite in the 3000 and 5000. Maybe they do have better aerobic engines than him, but Lobalu is so good that it's coming down to who has the fitness, not who has the grit.

Lobalu and Ndikumwenayo have just run 12:48 and 12:50 in Oslo... beating Almgren and Gressier so nothing surprising. Schrub is kind of an enigma though. He is strong runner for sure but he always seems to overperform when it matters with unimpressive PBs (13:04 and 27:47) and he isn't a particularly fast guy either (3:35.8).

Dr Yann Schrub is interested in winning medals in championships and not particularly interested in setting personal bests without the championships and I'm convinced that were he to run a time trial type 10,000 meter race like they do in the United States, or Japan, he would be very close to 27 minutes flat for 10,000 meters.
The good doctor has a great mindset making him a formidable opponent in a championship race. Third in the European 10,000 Championships in 2022 and second in 2024. Not the most talented runner in sheer ability but he knows how to prepare well and his general intelligence and IQ give him a possible advantage over the opposition. No surprise there.
I told my Swedish friend that I doubted Almgren would win the 10,000 meters and that the two Frenchmen might win medals so I got two out of three correct.
I predicted the Swede, Almgren, would have tired legs on the last lap and despite his general amazing speed would not be able to utilize that.

He can run a lot faster than his pb in the 10000 for sure. I think around 27:15. But that's still far from Almgren (12:50 26:52) Lobalu (12:50 59:12 so 26:45/50) Ndikumwenayo (7:25/12:48) and Gressier who can run I think 27:00.
I thought Lobalu and Ndiku might be tired from the 5000 they ran a few days ago. My bet was 1) Almgren 2) Gressier 3) Lobalu. I was expecting Schrub to be there in the last lap but 4th or 5th.
