Not all key players were there, but the ease with which he pulled away the last 150m is crazy.. very exciting for the Olympics to come.
I’m a Jingy Stan and I’m not remotely impressed by today. He was going against a bunch of no names. anything less than what he did today would have been a disappointment

It was still cool to see the 50 meters behind the lead to 50 meters in the lead differential between the first and last laps.
Didnt kick until 200 from home, so it just looked like another racing into fitness effort.

There were at least 3 3:30 guys plus one 3:29 guy in the field today.
In the back stretch Jakob was still cruising when everybody else were all in.
When Jakob shifted gear in the last bend he of course left them in the dust.
Gourley and Habz died trying to hang on.
There were a few extenuating circumstances for the three legit 3:29-3:30 guys:
Gourley- lightly trained, didn't seem to be able to hang after having to run a prelim Habz- similarly abbreviated buildup, wasted energy throughout the race too and has so far not shown he's much of a championship runner Nader- definitely had the hardest prelim experience, falling and running down everyone to finish 6th which turned out to be unnecessary. I suspect it led to a ragged effort in the final
So that to me is why the guys finishing 2nd-4th are more 3:32-3:33 guys who ran more patient races and didn't have delusions about beating Jakob. That being said, this was Jakob at close to his best, and he will crush guys who are maxed out at 3:29-3:30 at his best unless they are in top shape and run a near-perfect race in his slipstream.
