Simmons, Griffith, Shivley, Reilly, Steadman, Hergenrothen, Tostenson, Pajak... plus 6 other sub 4:05 types who maybe haven't run a race with that kind of depth & talent.
How many sub 4s are we gonna see? Could be 4 or 5. And Griffith may go 3:55.

No one is going sub 3:55 but I wouldn't be surprised to see a winning time in the 3:57s and 5-6 guys under 4. I expect at least 3 if the weather is good.
There have been several races with these same kinds of stacked fields the last couple years.
I anticipate that 1 or maybe 2 will go sub 4, with most everybody in under 4:05.
The fact is that most of these kids won't jump on the pace early and it most likely ends up 3:58.
I'd love to be proven wrong.
I agree. This is a recurring bit where people lose their minds over these types of fields, but the reality is that all of these kids have to feel great on the day and the pacing has to be close to perfect, which is super unlikely. I would also like to be proven wrong, especially because I’m sure all of us would love to see Simmons and Shively finally go sub 4.

You have a point, but it also hasn’t been a long time that we’ve had fields with so many kids with a realistic sub-4 chance, so I can see it breaking the right way now and then. Last year we had a race where the 4th high schooler ran 3:59.08, for one.
I’ll be more optimistic and say Griffith - Shively - Simmons will break 4. Griffith 3:57 again and Shively/Simmons at 3:59.
