Easily the coolest guy in athletics right now imo. Would be good for the sport if he won in Paris
Weird... in UK we had the same cameras but somehow didn't see the shoe full of springs; just got a very quick glimpse of the couple of springs he was holding up.
BBC commentators were convinced that he'd 'broken his shoe', and that they knew it had been foolhardy for him to continue jumping.
...and then they confidently announced that Neita beat Kambundji. Not their best night's work.
In the absence of a thread for the day, did anyone else notice Kambundji stepped on the lane making 4-5 times near the end? Is that no longer an infringement?
They are the European Athletics commentating team, not the BBC's.
Did someone shoot him in the eye?
Here's another video where the announcer sounds nervous:
With all the editing I don’t know where the springs are coming from

Only in athletics would anyone consider a guy with a gimmick like shaving half his face to be the coolest guy in the sport. I’m rooting for barshim.
he tries way too hard way beyond Lyles.
I saw an interview with him that, as a musician, I found hilarious. He was talking about how he often shaves half of his face, but he doesn't always have the gumption because when you look ridiculous and win, you're more of a badass, but when you look ridiculous and lose, it's so much more humiliating because not only did you lose, but you're the guy with half a beard who just lost.
It cracked me up. I could relate.
