I don't understand why the fact that he represents another brand of hot dogs would prohibit him from participating in this competition run by a hot dog brand that he does not work for. Why are they prohibiting him from participation?
Things could be wurst.
Following in Kobayashi's footsteps 10 years later.
To be quite frank, he's acting like a brat.
Welp, they just lost half of their viewership. Congrats
good. competitive eating is gluttonous and disgusting.
It's insane that Nathan's is banning him because he did commercials for a different hotdog product. The 4th of July is about FREEDOM and Nathan's wants Joey to be a slave to Nathan's.
The impossible hotdog that Joey works with isn't even a competitor of Nathan's. No Nathan's eaters are going to switch over to a no-meat version. Joey is just giving vegetarians the chance to eat something similar to a hot dog.
I will be boycotting Nathan's and I will never watch the hotdog contest again. I've gone to see it in person 10 times. Never again.
He doesn't cut the mustard
Devastating.
I would encourage him to take up running.
Is there some way we could reach out, welcome him into our midst? Offer his a complimentary LRC t-shirt and VIP membership privileges?
I feel terrible for him, but maybe this could be made into a blessing in disguise?
It's seen as a competitor. Nathan's wants all of the mustard.

This makes me hate Nathans in the way the Dream Team covering the Reebok logos on the medal stand in 1992 made me hate Nike.
Sounds like a beef with the sponsor.

Lol
That hot dog guy was on such a roll. How'd he get in such a pickle?
So which C-lister competitive eater wins this year?

I think the people at Nathan’s are acting like a bunch of weenies!

I don't know, but I'll bet he doesn't relish the situation.
Why is this an ESPN story?
