hey there, former high school CC runner now in my early 30s trying to train to break 18 min 5K. I am 5'10, ~175-180lb and relatively lean. I want to maintain this weight as I also weight train - fully understand that this weight hurts my chances of breaking 18.
My fastest 5K in HS was in the low 19s, and I am currently in 20:30 shape. Averaging 20-25 mpw for the last month and slowly stepping up as I go. My workouts look something like:
Monday: 5 miles easy, 9:30-10:30 pace
Tuesday: 5 miles easy, 9:30-10:30 pace
Thursday: 3 miles easy, recovery day post legs, 10:30 pace
Friday: 3 mile easy, 9:30-10:30 pace
Saturday: 2 mile warmup, 20 min tempo at 7:15 pace, 2 mile cooldown
Haven't started incorporating any speedwork as I've just been trying to get miles in, but pls go ahead and LMK whats up
