Hi. My training is focused on 800m (PB 2:00.38) but I run other distances as well. I have a problem with heavy legs and unfresh legs before and/or during almost every run, especially easy runs. It's been so bad that I seldom run easy runs since a month ago. During the last month I've only had one run over 6 miles. And I used to run 50-60 miles a week from january to the middle of april. Since May I've begun to incorporate sprint sessions in my program again. Some of these sessions have felt okay (and one really good) but only after several strides, jumps etc. to freshen up the legs.
Could it be overtraining? On the other hand I recently ran my second fastest 100, 400 and 800m times and my 5k times are roughly the same like during the last 3-4 years. And no new minor injuries. Too much weight training earlier during spring? I set several personal records in mar-april (e.g. sets of bulgarian splits squats with 100 lbs dumbbells). Low iron levels or vitamine levels? I've done some checks during the last year. Around 1 year ago I had slightly low iron levels (when I was in the process of getting a coeliac disease diagnose). But after the diagnosis the iron levels (and other parameters) were fine.
Maybe I should quit distance running and mostly do sprints?
Feel free to post some tips or similar experiences with heavy and unfresh legs.
