I have always landed more towards the heel than the front. I had an Achilles injury at the beginning of the year and thus did limited running and mostly cross trained for a few months. I have been pain free and running the past couple months and am now building my base for XC in the fall (I am in college). However, I have noticed that I now land very much on my forefoot. It was not an intentional switch— I don’t know if I was tentative or subconsciously changing how I run, but whatever happened it is what it is now.
I normally wouldn’t worry much about my strike. But the fact that it changed from how I previously ran has me concerned that it could yield problems as mileage increases. It has also played with my head — no strike feels natural now.
Has this happened to anyone? Should I try to maybe take a little off the forefoot? Leave it?
