I'm at a level where I am roughly equal or faster than many members in my same pace group (which can be broad) but I get dropped pretty hard because I follow the pace as prescribed (usually reasonable), whereas others will try to stay with the front end of the group no matter what. Some of them will applaud themselves on their fast workouts and many of them get injured and/or race inconsistently with limited improvements.
There's a point where it feels demoralizing to always "be in the back" during these track workouts and if I was in the next pace group, I'd likely be too far in the front. I usually race well so I think I'm running the right pace, but I honestly feel like I should just skip the group track workout and just run on my own as it's starting not to be very fun. Anyone had a similar experience?
