I think Mike Smith is smart about doing raw speed work and top end endurance work most of the year. Not just like 200’s or whatever but training that actually develops your speed like hills, wickets, and weight room work

Sahlman could split 47/48 in HS, similar to Hunter.
Nobodu who can run low 3:30s in 1500 needs high mileage. My guess is his NCAA training milerage isnt much more than his HS work but you have the stimulus of altitufe and added intensity at 3/km w the respiratoery work of breathing which was probably holding him back as HS athlete.

I’m not sure, I ran D1 and had a lot of friends on different teams and the lifting routines and types of lifts done can vary a good bit. There’s some basic ones like squatting, deadlifting, clings that a lot of programs do, but a fair amount of coaches or athletic trainers working for them have a few unique exercises they prescribe
