As far as I can tell, his total after 8 events, 7622, is the most points ever with 7 events finished. Kevin Mayer had around 7500 points after 7 events, and Ashton Eaton had 7400. He needs 1600 points to break it - which seems very doable.

He's already got 1 world record today:
The WR is 9126. He has 7622. So he needs 1504. I put his pbs (58.99 jav and 4:42.68) in for the final 2 events and he'd only get 1387. If he was going to make it all up in the 1500, he'd need to run 4.24.55.
If my math is right, he needs about a 4:18 1500m.
no chance. His PB is 445.
He will get a CR, but he won’t break 9000points.
He needed that 5.31 in the PV. I don’t know if any of his 3 tries were close
He also needed a PB in the JT
…to get the WR
4:19.28 to tie (817 points)
4:19.13 to break the World Record (818 points)
8309 points through 9 events

Leo NEUGEBAUER Texas [SR] has a PB of 4:42.68 so unlikely he runs that fast.
8836 pts is the German National record.
5:05.67 to break this record.
To become the 5th guy at 9k, he needs 691 points which is 4:38.3.
German NR but barely missed 9,000 points. Moving forward, I’m not sure it would be a great idea for him to adjust his training to get a better 1500 (because that can affect his already stellar explosive events) but Javelin should be able to be brought up to a decent level if he works on it
He's easily got 100-200 points to gain in the javelin, 400m, shot put, and hurdles.
If he doesn't get the WR within three years, I'll be shocked. And that's tough for Garland and Owens-Delerme because they're both excellent prospects but they're going to be living in Leo's shadow.
with maybe a just a bit of altitude tent, or altitude, and very very minor improvements in the aerobic work, the 1500 time can drop 10 seconds without compromise.
a marginal overall improvemet then gets the WR.
i really feel bad for all fast twitch guys to have to run the 1500,they experience more pain than us runners ever will. with our base and mile repeats, threshold. there is no comparison.
as the decathlon is a fast twitch event, the weird one is the 1500, still i would not change it. it adds physical toughness to the event.
nothing could be more stressful mentally than a decathlon however.
decathletes are the toughest mentally of all of em
Seriously. Leo is just an incredible talent. World leader by 200 points right now. Paris is gonna be a show.
He will win Gold in Paris for Germany
