Considering keeping track of HR during base training to get better idea of effort on easy days and eventually working into higher volume threshold training. Currently have a Garmin Forerunner 235 from 2 years ago but have turned off HR on it. Assumed watch HR would not be very accurate but not totally sure. Would be nice to save $ on HR monitor if watch is reasonably accurate. Tend to wear watch a little loose and know this affects cadence data, as sometimes get wonky step data when just wearing watch casually but not sure if it messes HR same way.
If watch isn't good enough, would love to get recs on good HR monitors. Never had one before so literally know nothing other than cursory search on Amazon and seeing range from $50-100 for initial results. Appreciate it!
