I was thinking about just doing a year round base training where i touch the basics. That would be:
2 x 10 minutes half marathon pace with 3 minutes jog
2 x 5 strides with jog between
2 x 15 minutes marathon pace with 3 minutes
Hill sprints
Some long runs and just do as much volume as I can safely handle, around 40-50 km in 4 runs with 1-2 workouts per week . 2 days of cycling a week. I am 52 years old and I just feel like running close to an injury when I start with hard vo2 max intervals and shorter faster intervals.
So my question is how much do you think that you gain with a race specific period of say 10-12 weeks of hard training?
My main event is 5km to half marathon.
