Hey Everyone! I just started running about 3 months ago for the first time in my life (I'm 52 years old) and I have worked up to around 2 miles a day, which is fine for me. The problem I have is I'm trying to improve my 1 mile lap times to below 10 minutes and it's a barrier I can't get past. It seems like I'm set in my cadence (around 160) and it feels like the only way to improve would be to do strength building and improve my stride length.
Is this a solution? What is the least injury-prone method I can use to improve my stride length - should it be achieved through stretching, weight training or both?
FYI - Garmin says my stride length is 1m and I'm 5' 11".
