Some basics to consider, ASSuming you don’t have a lot of time to prepare:
1) Cut your body fat down to 14% or below. Unless you are a designated football player, that solution should help you quickly.
2) Try running 25 - 30 miles per week, only 5 workouts per week, for several weeks. one workout per week is 6x400 meters. 2 minutes rest between each rep. Run “hard” / near your best, for each PAINFUL rep.
Your other 4 days per week can be easy runs. Teach your mind and body to deal with running - specific agony of the workout above.
.
3) Try one time trial, every other week. 600m test. All out effort. No f’ing around on lap 1!! Get after it!!
4) There are about 20 other ways to do this, but I am likely 9 million % more qualified than all other posters.
5) When it comes to mile race day: run 1:30 per lap, very smooth pace. No dumb - A, starting out fast BS.
6) If you need an inhaler for medical reasons, speak to a doctor before doing any arduous physical activity.

What is your height and weight?
How much are you currently running? What does your weekly running / work-out schedule look like?
When do you have to be in six minute mile shape? When was your last mile time trial or race and what was your time?
Good luck bro. Don t worry too much bout the inhaler. If u can run 7, u can run 6.
Listen to people like No Hoooah Zone if u need guidance. (When ever u see dislikes on posts, read them carefully, they re usually right. I don t know much tho, just saying).
Man up & be confident about your abilities.

I have to be in shape in a little less than 2 years. My latest mile trial was 7:02.
