Just going off the 2k splits you can't really tell what he comes through in because the clock stops on the split and the camera angle, but at 2200m you can tell he is roughly 1.2-1.3 behind the pacer. There was seemingly no movement between 2000m and 2200m so this would put his 2000m split at ~5:08.3, meaning he ran his last 3k in an absolutely ludicrous ~7:28.5. Just for perspective this would put him just outside the top 25 fastest 3ks ever run.
I think this isn't that crazy of a stat given that it was a 12:36 5k. It's not that much of a departure from the overall 5k pace. 12:30 for 5k is 60s/400m, or 7:30 for 3k; add ~1 sec per kilometer for ~12:35 pace, and you expect a completely even-paced 12:35 5k to cover the final 3k in about 7:33, which doesn't exactly seem that far off 7:28.5 to me -- especially since negative splits are kind of common in distance races.

I think this is a good take with the fast last 3k explanation. He also had a pacer/Kejelcha the for all but the last lap leading the way. I would argue Kejelcha’s final 3k was just as impressive since he led the majority of it.

I'm gonna keep saying Hagos is 5000 GOAT until you figure it out.
Better overall record than Cheptegei, better PR than Bekele. If the devil had a 5000m champion you had to race for your soul, it would be Hagos.
Bekele beats him 10 out of 10 in his prime. no super shoes and 1237. plus he medaled twice (gold in 08 and silver in 04). not even comparable
that's speculation. Last 3000 in 7:28 is not. Did Bekele do that?
If golds are so important to you, Bekele isn't even comparable to Mo Farah. The unstoppable gold medal machine who never even broke 12:50 or 26:40. Stop acting like a clown

Come on bro the other guy is right. He’s saying bekele has a lot of hardware (not as much as EPO sit and kick merchant Farah), and you’re a fool to think that he couldn’t defeat hagos gebriwhet in the same spikes/conditions. 12:37 with the last 3k solo in 7:30-7:31 in the old spikes is better than drafting for most of a last 3k in 7:28 with the new spikes.

no, you are actually a sucker for the latest thing in marketing.
Notice how you are talking about "the new spikes" instead of dope.
You are obviously not fast, or you'd know that's a scam. There is no shoe that makes you faster than any other. But there are shoes the shoe companies pay the fastest runners to wear. It's that simple.

Yes, I agree with you. But we have to see what Jakob can do if he fully recovers. -But for know he is an also ran in the 5000m (has only won two clown races, that tell us too little, and a race in a weak pb). Hagos and Jakob have beaten each others (since 2019), but I think the former has the upper hand right now. Anyways -hard to know if Jakob’s peak event is the 5000m, or shorter or longer…He has to do a fast one, or he might end up like an permanent also ran (f.ex like Ovett and Farah) in the 5. But all this Jakob knows better than me…

I agree with you. But your problem (and Mo’s) is that we don’t know how fast Mo Farah could have run in the 3/5/10k…

You think the 12:50 guy was more of a doper than the 12:37 guy?

Ha, how's that ratio treating you? Hagos is a phenomenal 5000m runner, but he's no Kenenisa Bekele

I am debunking all y'alls nonsense, can't you parse basic sentences?
A) hardware doesn't matter, or Farah would be GOAT B) if you're so sure, why bring the "magic spikes" into it? There are no magic spikes, it's a scam.
Gebrhiwet is faster than Bekele PR for PR, and that's the facts, Jack.
Don't worry. He won't do anything in the Olympics because he won't risk pissing hot. Just like always. Jakbo is winning the 5K with Barega as his main competition. Cheptegei or Kiplimo for 10K. Kjelcha in contention in both. Gebrhiwet nowhere to be seen.

The shoes did it. Put Bekele on same track in same shoes in his prime and he goes under 12:30. No question. I’d bet my next paycheck on it.
