Zealand’s race was incredible. I thought Sadie seemed to show some pre-race concern. And then she got buried in the back of the pack. At the bell, she was still buried, and even with 300m to go, I was thinking , “ahh well”. And then with 225m to go, Sadie did something incredible!
Yeah, Sadie was looking pretty shellshocked, but she let it motivate her
Cutting 6 seconds out of nowhere like Zealand did to break a national record was also pretty badass! Lots of people were talking about Jane or even Leachman, nobody was banking on Allie Zealand
Maybe Tuohy, Melody Fairchild, or both will lose their records in XC at NXN and Foot Locker next? Melody Fairchild's especially needs to go

Sadie did look more worried than usual, but that wasn't because her record had just been broken. Sadie was there for one thing only and that was to run fast enough to get into the Olympic Trials. That was her concern. Not sure if her 4:28 was fast enough to do that. But at least she still has another race on her schedule.
Tremendous kick for her, almost winning the race. In fact, she could have raced more aggressively and run even faster, as she had a ton left in the last 200m.

Yes, Sadie mentioned that in her interview. Sadie said that if she had run a little faster in the middle of the race that she probably could have run faster than 4:28.
Sadie's pacing is not what I would call bad exactly, but there is room for improvement. She rarely runs an even pace. Sometimes she goes out too fast, sometimes the middle of the race is too slow. She still has another year to get that figured out in high school. I think she can get down to around 4:24 or 4:25 in the mile before she graduates.
Sadie is teed up against three time Brooks PR 800 champion Ali Ince in 10 days. Ince has dropped 13 seconds off her mile in a year to 4:35 in this race. Both have 800 PRs of 2:03. Should be a banger race!
Sadie is the only hs girl in America that's worthy or capable of making the Olympic team. It will be that way for the next 3 years. She is a world class 2 mile runner and I don't believe anyone in America can hang with her in the 2 mile or 5,000 meter distance. Including college girls.
Parker valby and Sadie englehart are the only names in girls running that America needs to hear about right now. Nobody else is on their level. Congrats. Recruitment galore

Uh oh: Sadie's 1500m at Music City to attempt the Trials standard is scheduled for 7:20pm tomorrow evening, and I'm looking at the weather forecast (for Murfreesboro, TN) ... I'm slightly worried there might be torrential rain at almost exactly that time...
