Figure might as well, as we might not learn a ton until we get through Kenyan Trials/European Champs etc.
Disclaimer: No Beamish/Girma as I doubt we will see either guy contesting it in Paris. No Laros yet, need to see him in a race.
Gold Medal Tier
1. Josh Kerr(GBR -1): Cemented top status with Pre win and British record.
2. Jakob (NOR -2): Gutted out the win today on what must've been pretty tired legs. Excited to see how he does doubling at European Champs.
The Next Guy
3. Yared (USA- 3): Ahead of last year, if not looking like a 3:43 guy yet
Dreaming of a Medal
4. Jake Wightman (GBR- 4): Massive move-up for Jake but deserved. 1:44.1 and 3:47 in a week. Excited to see him in NYC June 6.
5. Brian Komen (KEN- 5): Simply crushing the eye test and destroyed local competition in Kenya in National Champs. Nice to see how he does in a drag race, but we might not until Monaco possibly.
6. Tim Cheruiyot(KEN- 9): Major step forward to be a desperation dive from beating Jakob in Oslo. Ran with confidence again after improving his SB to 1:45.6 last week as part of a 2-day, quadruple in Kenya.
Dark Horses
7. Cole Hocker (USA- 6): I’ll give Cole the benefit of the doubt here that the near-fall and the 5000 had him a bit spent at Pre
8. Neil Gourley (GBR- 7): Hell of a first race here on limited training. How much he pushes Jakob at Europeans will be great to see
9. Azeddine Habz (FRA- 10): Backed up Marrakech win with a solid result in Oslo
10. Reynold Cheruiyot (KEN- 8): Poor off the line 2 weeks in a row, but consistency remains good. Does he have a jump in results in store?
11. Isaac Nader (POR- 11): Another solid result, but after looking like he might get in the top 2, ran out of gas in the final 100
Work to Do
12. Elliott Giles (GBR- 17): Another good result and again ran aggressively, but didn't have much of a kick off the honest pace
13. Olli Hoare (AUS- 14): I was a bit surprised he did Oslo, but this was a solid result. Hopefully goes all-in on training, I think his AUS spot is solidified now
14. Adam Spencer (AUS- 13): NCAAs will be a great test
15. Hobbs Kessler (USA- 11) : I’d love to have him higher, but more trouble in a big pack has me a bit spooked
Looking at the 5K/Need to Put One Together
16. George Mills (GBR- 18): Ran a decent time here, but well back of the secondary group of guys and another passive race, looks like he is going to have a hard time making the 1500 team
17. Cooper Teare (USA- 16) : Tough break with Girma nearly taking him out after an ill-advised move (by Girma). Obviously fit as heck but 5000 might be his event
18. Narve Nordas (NOR- 12): Yes I know his spike fell off, but he's going to have to put together a solid result for me to trust him.
Good Runners But Don't Look Like Contenders Thus Far
19. Pietro Arese (ITA -NR) - Nice PB here, and on a solid run of progression
20. Robert Farken (GER - NR) - Good run from him getting his season back on track
21. Cameron Myers (AUS- 20) : Excited to see he's in for World Juniors. Mehary (ETH) or Sang (KEN) would be great guys to face
22. Andrew Coscoran (IRL- HR): Under 3:33 once again
23. Stewy McSweyn (AUS- 19): Rough go here, should look at 5000 now I really think unless he's really intent on doubling.
24. Mario Garcia Romo (21): Some life with a 3:50.1
25. Federico Riva (HM): Gonna reward him for a very consistent season and winning in lower races. Hope to see him in DL soon.
HM: Colin Sahlman, Adel Mechaal, Ruben Verheyden, Ryan Mphahlele
Injury List: Niels Laros (thankfully returning soon?), Jake Heyward, Matt Stonier, Sam Tanner
