Totally loaded with people that have already broken 4 before. NAU commit Clay Shivley, a ton of 4:01 kids like Nathan Neil, Tommy Latham, then Zach Hillhouse and Drew Griffith to top it off. Think with the totally nuts fields and the crazy two mile times that the meet record from Birnbaum (3:57.53) could be broken. He ran 3:57 for 1600 to win by seven seconds at PA states, would like to think that with pacing and a better field that you can make that two seconds up in a mile. Think with shoes and just kids getting better that sub 4 could become a multiple kid per senior class occurrence on a regular basis.Watch it at 9:10 for free on
I'm also excited for the Girls Race. Looks like such an even field, so someone is going to have a breakout race, just don't know who it is going to be.
Crazy Griffith ran 3:57 at his state meet last week. No rabbit? Like the site would have crashed a few years ago is someone did that.
Perhaps of most interest to me is Sadie Engelhardt raincg the pros on the women's side.
I predict Griffith wins in 3:57.31
Could see a sub 4 in slow heat.

Thanks, rojo
Agree re: the girls race. Athletes I'm watching: Chiara Dailey, Allison Ince, Allie Zealand, Abby Faith Cheeseman.
The middle school race is very deep as well. Countless kids under 4:40, and a few under 4:30 as well.

should probably add defending champion Charlotte Bell to that list. and maybe Ellery Lincoln and Logan St. John Kletter who are running well right now. But I imagine it will come down to Bell and Zealand.

I'm excited to see what Sadie Engelhardt can do in the women's pro race. She is a HS junior that beat the pros at The Ten (1500) in 4:09. She also set a HS only mile record at Mt SAC. She is the 3- time state champ (CA) in the 1600 and could make it 4 in a row next year.
How many participants will be tested? Griffith went from national class to top of the nation in 1 year

100%. no tests will happen though
They better test the mascots!
Highlight of the meet coming up next. The mascot race last year was the bomb! Returning champ is entered as well as a bunch of returning sub .60 mascots
Great race!! Defending champ goes down. 52 point takes it.
