You'd think there would be some more news about a potential superstar and gold medalist than the occasional YouTube video. Shouldn't he be a big star in the Netherlands already?
Then again, it is the same in the UK, with the likes of Max Burgin. For all we know, he has retired.
I doubt if this happens in any other major sport.
How difficult would it be for Jonathan Gault to get on the phone to their agents?

I'm excited about Laros as an upcoming talent but come on, he's still 3-4 seconds off from the best in the world. I hope he does well and makes it into the Olympic finals and then I imagine he'll get a lot more attention in the years to come.

In an interview in a major Dutch newspaper (volkskrant) today, Laros state he'll only running the 800m - apparently this fits better in his road to Paris.
Very sad about Laros, hope he still has time to get fit for Paris. Still looks an amazingly class athlete even when he's unfit and not racing his favorite event.
Why is there no offical thread for the Euros?
We just saw a first round 1:44.7 heat. Love how the BBC commentators completely ignored Jakob Dudycha in the starting line up - one of the most exciting 800m talents in Europe.

This isn’t a great result obviously but I don’t know if it’s that bad an indication for him having a good season. He went out in 54.23 (last) and came back in 52.39, which was equal to the fastest 2nd lap in the race. So not sure about putting himself so far back at 400m, but the fitness and speed seem decent for a 1500 runner’s opener.

He looked rusty. He barely broke 27 for the first 200, which has to be some nerves/rust. But after the first 200 he actually looked OK. But in a slow race it was going to be near-impossible to advance that way.
EDIT: This is a good rip the band-aid off effort. Hoping it’s like when Tim ran a mediocre 800 this year at Kip Keino but was ready to go at Doha because most importantly he was healthy.

1976 Montréal Olympic Games In the 800 metres, Walker finished in 1:47.63, outside the two qualifying spots in his heat, and failed to advance to the semi-final round
then won gold beating van damme 143 800 guy that week in a slow race.
walker's 800 was for sharpening, and did no intend to run the 800 final.
while walker was not mentally prepared nor needed the ultimate effort
none the less walker was P&&issed, and lit a fire under him.
the moral of the story, a 146 opener has nothing to do with what may come down the road.
unless Laros injury becomes an issue, this dissappointment will add fuel to the fire, that is if he is a gamer, and he appears to be just that.
