Hi, Im a HS sophomore finishing the year, 2 weeks into base phase for xc. This summer I have a lot of time on my hands and want to put as much time and effort as I can into improving my cross country times. But I also want to figure out what I should dedicate most of my time to. I made a list of everything I could think of that's relevant to running:
running: number 1
cross training, ?
lifting, ?
recovery, (stretching, massage gun) ?
form work, (drills) ?
mental strength, (hard to work on this one) ? and
nutrition ?
I have a lot of time, but not unlimited, I want to get better in everything but I wonder out of this list what's the most essential and how can I make sure I am balancing all of this well
Is there anything else that's a key part of running that I could add to the list? and could someone help me figure which ones I should dedicate the most time to (besides running) please? (which are the most important in order of time I should spend working on them...)
Also - I am planning on 1 hr of daily cross training during the summer, could it help me with my times, not as a running replacement but as a supplement?
