Hello, I am a HS sophomore girl who is wrapping up my track season. This season, I ran an 11:19 3200m and a 5:16 1600m. These times were right around/a bit slower than my freshman year times, so I’m a little disappointed but overall pretty happy with this year especially because I am a better XC runner and had a good season there. I want to improve a lot this junior year, hopefully to have a better chance at running at some more competitive schools for running because I am a very good student. I am hoping for a 5:05 1600m and 11:00 3200m junior year.
My team does quite a few races during the season, so my mileage isn’t super high during track due to that. I run around 25 miles a week, but I feel like I should work up quite a bit because junior year is coming up! Does anyone have any advice for mileage this junior year? I love summer training and I always devote lots of time to it, which I think accounts for my success during XC. Thanks in advance for any suggestions about possible summer mileage/junior yr mileage.
