Per his Instagram. Obviously a huge bummer for him and OAC. At this point I have a hard time seeing anyone besides Fisher, Young, and Kincaid making the team. (Maybe Chelimo?)

Man, there goes his time on the track. The peak track age is younger than most realize.
to the roads he goes
Bummer. Glad he is back running now.
Hate this for him. He’s a grinder and I’m guessing he will move to the roads after this and gave Mantz/Young a run for their money. Does anyone know why there have been so many season-ending injuries this year among the Americans? Is it just due to it being an Olympic year or is something else up? Genuinely wondering.
bummer. Hoping this means marathon debut coming this fall.
what is going ON with that group with year?
Hopefully a HM is put on his calendar later this year. Just try it out once Joe.
Isn’t that code around here for having been busted? Or is that not applicable for the whites?
I don’t understand……Why not go for it? Maybe you can surprise yourself like Neil Gourley, Jakob, or Grant fisher when they came back from injury. You are healthy, just see what you can do. You gotta go out there and believe in your talent. You might regret it if you don’t race. It’s a 4 year thing. You’ve made every team since you became pro. It wouldn’t sit with me well if I didn’t at least go out there and try.

The Ten was a disaster for OAC. Glad Morgan pulled out and is healthy.
Right now Chelimo is the only other guy in ranking range for the US. So the team is basically set at 3/4 of Fisher, Young, Kincaid, Chelimo. And Chelimo has not shown the fitness this year to be a legitimate threat. But anything can happen at trials if it turns into a 28 minute run
Nobody else has a shot at getting into the ranking range barring a hail mary standard run or getting 2 sub 27:15 10K's in the next month. Rankings are already extremely tight due to how many people got the standard, XC spots, and how many people are running races sub 27:20.
The next best guys in the ranking are Clinger and Isai Rodriguez running 28 flat 10K's so it would have to be someone currently not on the rankings.
Shoot. Tough decision for him, but the right one. No sense in rushing back and finding his way back to injury. I wish him the best – he's not the most talented distance runner the U.S. has, but I respect his ability to grind to reasonable success at the national level. That takes some grit. I wonder if this prompts Ritz to re-evaluate how to keep his 10k athletes healthy in the long term...it's not like they train that much more than, say, Jakob.
So the 10K team is Grant, Nico, and Woody then?

Chelimo can snipe a spot if he beats any of those guys at Trials. He has the ranking necessary barring a bunch of people around the world running super fast 10K's next month.

Ritz and overtraining go together like lamb and tuna fish....

What's weird is the Americans in the group are struggling but the others have been running great. Even the injury prone guys like Geordie and Morgan have been having career years. Nuguse is doing well but other Americans in OAC aren't having the best time.
Sucks
I hope he makes a run at the marathon. He's not going to be the best US marathoner the next few years with Nico being younger and faster, and some other guys. He could possibly be the best marathoner, and that may be his best event anyway.
