Threshold training is obviously all the rage. One feature of threshold training that's cool to me is how one can run at all sorts of different paces but still be in the correct threshold zone by modifying the rep distance and rest. For example, one common threshold workout is 20x400m @ 5k pace with 45-60s rest.
I want to do a workout that gets my legs used to what my goal 10k pace feels like but I want to perform a threshold effort. Any ideas on how to structure this? Would 15x600m @ 10k pace on 70s rest accomplish this? Maybe 10x800m @ 10k pace on 90s rest? Or is this too easy/hard? I'll obviously modify the pace based on my effort during the workout to stay in the threshold zone but want a good baseline/ starting point.
Thanks for any feedback.
